Electrocardiography (EKG) Technician Location: Columbia, South Carolina Job Description Summary: The Inpatient Electroencephalography (EEG) Technician II of Clinical Neurophysiology Services reports under indirect supervision of the EEG Coordinator, EEG Unit Leaders or designee, the Inpatient EEG Tech II records by means of electronic equipment neurophysiologic potentials for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system. Entity: Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Worker Type: Employee Worker Sub-Type: Regular Cost Center: CC003763 COL - EKG (DMC) Pay Rate Type: Hourly Pay Grade: Health-24 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Work Shift: Rotating Job summary: The Inpatient Electroencephalography (EEG) Technician II of Clinical Neurophysiology Services reports under indirect supervision of the EEG Coordinator, EEG Unit Leaders or designee, the Inpatient EEG Tech II records by means of electronic equipment neurophysiologic potentials for the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases and conditions involving the nervous system. FLSA: Hourly Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Graduation from a CAAHEP accredited program of Electroneuro diagnostic (END) technology; or eligible for National Board Certification; or any combination of education and experience that warrants eligibility for National Board Certification required. Must obtain EEG certification within 2 years of employment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. May require working irregular hours under stressful conditions, rotating shifts, and weekends. Required License Certification and Registration: Must obtain EEG certification within 2 years of employment. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors, working outside in temperature extremes, working from elevated areas, working in confined/cramped spaces, working from kneeling positions, bending, twisting, squatting, performing "pinching" operations, performing gross motor activities with fingers and hands, performing fine manipulation with fingers and hands, reaching overhead, performing repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, fully using both legs, maintaining 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes, seeing and recognizing objects close at hand or at a distance, matching or discriminating between colors, determining distance/relationship between objects; depth perception, good peripheral vision capabilities, maintaining hearing acuity, performing gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements, dealing effectively with stressful situations, working rotating shifts, working overtime as required, working in a latex safe environment, maintaining tactile sensory functions, maintaining good olfactory sensory function, being qualified physically for respirator use, initially and as required.
