Director of Payroll (Hospital based) Location: Remote (excluding Alaska, California, Washington State, and Hawaii) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM Overview An experienced Interim Director of Payroll is needed to lead payroll operations for a large healthcare system with over 30,000 employees. This role will oversee daily payroll functions, manage and mentor the payroll team, and play a key role in the implementation of payroll and workforce management systems scheduled for go-live in November 2025. This role will be working towards replacing the current director for the health system who will be retiring before the end of the year. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Minimum of 8 years in a senior payroll role within a hospital or healthcare system Proven leadership experience at the Manager level or higher Hands-on experience with system implementations Preferred Skills Experience with Workforce Management (WFM) systems Familiarity with Infor software Key Responsibilities Payroll Oversight: Manage end-to-end payroll operations for 30,000+ employees, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with regulations Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor payroll staff, delegate tasks, and foster a collaborative work environment System Implementation: Support planning, testing, and rollout of payroll/WFM systems, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with stakeholders for a successful November 2025 launch Compliance & Accuracy: Review payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and ensure adherence to tax laws, healthcare regulations, and internal policies Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR, Finance, and IT teams to align payroll processes and support system integration Process Improvement: Evaluate workflows, identify inefficiencies, and implement enhancements to boost accuracy and efficiency Issue Resolution: Address complex payroll inquiries and errors, providing clear communication and effective solutions Go-Live Preparation: Participate in meetings, training sessions, and vendor discussions to ensure readiness for system implementation milestones Seniority level Director Employment type Full-time Job function Accounting/Auditing and Finance Industries Hospitals and Health Care Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Insight Global by 2x Inferred from the description for this job We’re unlocking community knowledge in a new way.
