We currently have an opening for an Estimator for a Shell Contractor with a construction company based in Stuart, FL.

Only local candidates currently living in Okeechobee, Palm Beach, Martin & Saint Lucie Counties will be considered.

The Construction Estimator is responsible for deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors like labor needs, materials, budgets and potential setbacks. Duties include communicating with personnel and contractual professionals or vendors, using estimating software and Microsoft software to weigh production risks or compile reports and making presentations to project leaders outlining their suggestions for upcoming projects. This position reports directly to the Chief Estimator.

Responsibilities Include:

• Ability to determine accurate cost coding and labor costs for self-performed work.
• Good visualization skills to understand what the finished product depicted on the drawings will look like when built, and how to build it.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Good understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction terminology, concepts, and relationships.
• Solid technical skills with a thorough knowledge of estimating principals.
• Familiar with the estimate classifications and the quality of information needed to attain the expected accuracy level.
• Present completed & professional estimates to senior management and clients.
• Identify deficiencies in the drawings and other sources of information and can provide pricing for deficiencies.
• Obtain subcontractor and vendor pricing and be able to develop budget pricing for entire job scope/requirements as required by bid requirements.
• Prepare bridging documents demonstrating an understanding of how estimate costs have changed from previous estimates.

Must be able to measure and calculate:

• Cubic yards of concrete
• Square footage of forms
• Linear footage of footings, curbs, stem walls, etc.
• Rebar and reinforcement quantities
• Labor hours & costs needed for placement, forming, stripping, finishing, and curing
• Equipment needs (pumps, screeds, cranes, etc.)
• Other material costs required for job completion

Experience and Skills:

·  Only local candidates currently living in Okeechobee, Palm Beach, Martin & Saint Lucie Counties will be considered.

· At least 2 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably for a Shell Contractor.

· PlanSwift estimating software experience is required.

· Proficiency in mathematics, statistics and data analysis.

· Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

· Report writing and strategic planning skills.

· Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for large projects.

· Ability to read and interpret technical documents.

· Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.

· Exceptional time management skills.

· Must be a team player.
